Pennant update

Hi Bowlers
4 rounds of 14 games have been completed. Both sides are well off the pace and as a club we need to dig in to get on the right side of the ledger. We back our selection committee to make the right calls, no matter how tough they are to give both sides the best chance of succeeding. There is no forum for complaints or an invitation to whinge, but there is a platform for suggestions ( constructive) for selectors to consider. You may send your thoughts / comments via email, sms or WhatsApp to tony ring or myself and we will pass onto selectors. It will be the selection committee’s prerogative to take suggestions on board or dismiss them.
I just want to emphasise to all bowlers we are only 4 rounds in, there is plenty of time to get back on track and have a successful season. So I don’t want to hear any negativity at this point. Let’s get down to the club to work on our bowling ideally Thursday for training - unfortunately I have work commitments this Thursday (Wilma, ring, Hoyne etc I can explain what “work” means if you need) so I won’t be, but I will head down on Wednesday and check out the work of Ben and Zak with the lights and Trevor the steps.
I also want to leave you with something to reflect on about our club:
Our div 3 side on Saturday included 9 bowlers out of 16 that either had never bowled 2 years ago, or were playing in the Div 5 side
Our Div 6 side also had at least 5 bowlers that had not bowled prior to this season or the last - put that in perspective that is a full pennant side - if you take that back another year or two, there’s probably another 4-5 new bowlers in that mix! this is an amazing situation and achievement for a club in our position and says a lot about the people involved and the efforts of people like canavan, nutty, ring who have put measures in place for structured practice and a willingness to give their time to help guide new bowlers, run club tournaments etc.
The point I am making is as a club we are tracking in the right direction, we need to knuckle down and focus on winning pennant matches but overall let’s continue to follow the path and success will come !
Ps I am pretty sure I know why toots has taken up bowling - he basically wasted the last 10 years at the race track as he is the shittest punter i’ve met and he will take credit for the tips you give him - but I digress.
Go West
Brendan
